Cotahuasi , a beautiful mountain valley with only one road out and in

Being stuck in the village of Chiquibamba 

becuase all the buses were full, not only for Saturday night but also for Sunday night we decided to hitch a ride. 

What luck,  the first car that came along the road stopped : a brand new 4*4 Suzuki 6  valve with just the driver . For a meger 40 sols we hopped in and 3 1/2 hrs later we arrived in Cotahuasi ( 5 hrs by bus)

To get to Cotahuais we went over a  4300 mountain pass  where we saw our first Alpagas 

and snow .

 

Arrival  at our hotel: Huantihuasi ( 75 sols /nuit) where we met Catalina Bordas who is not only running for presdient of the region in the upcoming elections but who also speaks fluent English and is a mine of information for treks and visits.
