New Year's Eve 2014 and our last view of Australia looking down onto Perth harbour.
And we were welcomed to Denpasar , Bali with a driver waiting for us at the airport to take us to our guest house and innumerable firework displays which lit up the sky in spite of the faint drizzle of rain.

One of many roundabouts with carved statues , but our first site on one in Indonesia |
Our guest house in Sanur :

View from our room over the rice fields |

Sanur beach , full of locals from Java on holiday for the New Year in Sanur |
Polo posing , the beach front is full of locals and there is a busy market just behind the beach front walk, you can find just about everything , similar to a night market on the Cote D'Azur ..

Fresh coconut juice absolutely delicious. |
|
But just behind the beach walk we found dogs and chicken checking through the rubbish ! |
|
Even the geese enjoy an afternoon stroll down the sea front !
and of course , one of the varied means of transport in Bali ; a push bike.
|
Polo under a very large tree surrounded by the main means of transport in Bali : Scooters , without them the island would be just one very big end to end traffic jam !

Ready , steady , go ! |

Entrance to a hotel with private gardens |
These carved statues are one and part of the Bali experience , these two guys were on the beach front . A nice example of Balinese Hinduism which is apparent all through the island. Although as tourists we look on them as demons and evil spirits this is not necessarily true. Demons are an important symbol of their believe in reincarnation.
Nice pics from Bali and great comments, thanks.
