Pittoresque view from the second ferry crossing. |
First view of a beach on Koh Lanta, Diamond cliff Bay. |
Diamond cliff Bay |
Harry the hermit has found himself a pretty home. |
Friends from Denmark. It's minus 21°C there and only 6 hours of daylight !
Their English was exemplary !
View of the Diamond cliff , our restaurant for tonight with a wonderful sunset
This restaurant gives you a bird's eye view with excellent food and very reasonable prices considering its position .
After eating a wonderfully prepared Thai meal and a hard day on the scooter discovering the island's beaches it was obvious that we deserved an hour of Thai massage right on the beach with the sound of the waves lapping up onto the sandy shore.
Thai massage is more technical then Bali massage, they not only use their hands like in Bali but also arms, and "jambes";
IT'S VERY SPORTIVE !
Quote from Paul's masseuse
" he dance Papa, Papa dancing , yea.." with peels of laughter.
Visit of a park in the jungle with elephants and a waterfall.
The path to the falls follows the river through the jungle. |
A big tree ! |
These elephants appear to be well treated , they were not chained up and had no scab marks from being flayed.
( Look out for scab marks on the back of their legs, top of head and on their trunks , also marks on bottom of their legs from the chains ) Please, if you see any of these signs report the owners to the local WWF in Thailand.
We stopped off at a resort hotel and found a beautiful sandy beach , unfortunately the sea is interspersed with rocks but the sea was warm and inviting!
View from South East coast |
Private beach on the South East coast of the island while looking for accommodation for the end of February when the children come out to join us. |
After our second sunset, and an early start this time we actually took the boat to KRABY - 400BHT/person ( 11€)
We didn't see any dolphins this time ( Ahmed to Gily crossing) but beautiful islands shimmering in the dawn heat. |
When we arrived near Koh Jum island these long boats were waiting to pick up and drop off passengers from our boat.
We say bye bye to Koh Lanta and to Koh Jum which we would have liked to have the time to explore. Speaking to people who had stayed on this island it sounds like a real paradise, no cars, no bikes, white sandy beaches, fairly cheap accommodation from 450BHT a double to 2000BHT, depending on your pocket.
