Today push bike around the lake from the town , 10kms across the river on a long boat, visit to a pagoda, market and winery |
On a cave first encounter with a 79year old monk who lives in this cave which is open on one side ,but in the rainy season he told us that it's cold. He was so happy to offer us tea and cakes. There is no retirement for a monk, he continues up until the end.
It's the season to cut sugar cane and it is a family affair.
The oxen wait for the sugar cane to be loaded, the youngest in the family lends a helping hand he makes sure they stay put. |
Views from around the lake:
The jetty on the East side of the lake .
Paddy fields |
Cactus's for Aloe Vera |
Another street market |
Burma likes to "chique" betel, a red nut thing which is put in a leave with tobacco and a white liquid mixture after chewing on it fir some minutes, they spit it out into the street. They even spit it out in some of the temples. Their mouths become bright red and they loose their teeth.
Visit to a winery we tried 4 different wines, just one of them can be called "drinkable" |
View from the terrasse over the vines. |
The national sport even for the firemen, a little ball (like a hand ball) which shouldn't touch the floor, they can only use their feet. |
The end of the day arrives and we top it off with a good restaurant and 3 bottles of wine ; it's Dominique , she invited us for her birthday ( 60 ca se fete !) |
And yes you're right these aren't from Myanmar but we like the photo , thanks for the contribution Becky :) |
