THAILANDE CHIANG RAI 14 TO 16 FEB

Chiang Rai is at 3 hours from Chiang Mai. A guy picked us up from the bus station to go to Akha Hill village, 23km from the town in the jungle. It's an ecologic guesthouse , 10% of the profit goes to the village

We arrived at 5pm, so we set off to the top off the hill to see the sunset and our village nestled on the mountainside.

In front our room with a beautiful view over the valley

Today we left at midday to go for a trek in the jungle, to visit the waterfall and the hot springs on the valley.

First the big waterfall , a good bath because its really hot today.

Polo going the wrong way for canyoning !

Jump or not to jump that is the question?

As you can see no jump ! ouf I have my Polo back.

Tea tree plantations
Banana plantations and tea plantations go together here.

In the Chinese village a man makes a broom with the flowers taken from water rushes.

2 Chinese lads played a Beatles' song and we sang along with them , , really simpatico
6 kms to walk to the hot springs

A metallic figure in the middle of nowhere ... why ?

In the Hot springs the  water is 42° and is good after trekking. We were lucky to get a lift back in a local car  just down the road from the guesthouse
Our last night in the guesthouse with guitare and songs

Little Akha market in the morning just in front of the guesthouse.

The guide and Asha from Holland who has just started her  4 month tour of Asia.
