Our trip from Mawlamine to Hpa An
This reclining Buddah measures 200 meters and is still not finished. |
On the same site they are starting a new Recling Buddah even though the other one is not yet finished.
The day we visited the Reclining Buddah was MON day ( already written on the previous page) one of the 7 ethnic groups in Myanmar. They all wanted their photos taken with us and we felt very privileged. All the girls giggled and were very sweet.
This is a view taken form inside Buddah. Yes , this is a temple where we actually visit Buddah on the inside as well as the outside.
These photos are of life size figurines inside the Recling
Buddah
Up on the 5th floor inside the Buddah there were
figurines which had not yet been painted. We think they they represent what is evil so ; scenes of life which are not Buddha's philosophy. We didn't really find out what they actually represent.
Tara the goddess of liberty who represents the virtues of success in work and achievement
can be seen here next to Buddha with a white elephant.
Dee Dee in a small restaurant just opposite the elephant temple.
If you have been following our blog then you should know that Julie's birthday animal is an elephant without tusks, this temple represents Buddha's birthday which was also on a Wednesday. |
This was the view from the temple to Kha Yone Cave which had a very strong odor of bats , there were thousands of them crowded into one area of the cave.
Tara , goddess of liberation here she is represented like the three monkeys : ' see no evil, speak no evil , hear no evil' |
We visited several caves and like on the top of every the mountain we find Buddha underground too. |
Dee Dee and Ju standing in awe as they walk through this cave of Buddahs.
